Show up ready
Know your craft. Love getting better at it. Your growth is yours to own. If a target doesn’t exist yet, help build it. If a process is missing, help create it.
01The Standard
People who show up, know their work cold, and bring something only they could bring. The team is small enough that everyone’s hands are on the thing. We’re not just running this business. We’re building it, together, every day.
Know your craft. Love getting better at it. Your growth is yours to own. If a target doesn’t exist yet, help build it. If a process is missing, help create it.
Make it matter that you’re the one in the room. The question nobody thought to ask. The solution nobody saw coming. The perspective that changes the conversation.
Say when something doesn’t feel right. Share the idea even if it’s not fully baked. Silence is the most expensive thing in a small company.
02The Terms
These aren’t perks. They’re the same principle we apply to the product, applied to the people who build it. Treat people like people, not resources to optimize.
With one physical maker space in Philadelphia for anyone who wants a desk that isn’t in their house.
Covered at 100% from day one. Not after a probation window.
Set up on the first paycheck. No vesting cliff games.
03Philadelphia
We have one physical office: the TGL Innovation Hub. Jacob, Abigail, and a group of friends built it out by hand. Drywall, paint, wiring, the whole thing. It’s where new products get prototyped, where we host trades operators who want to see how this works up close, and where anyone on the team can come work when they want a desk that isn’t in their house.
04Before you apply
If you want a job where the visible work is the whole job, this isn’t the place. Most of what matters here is the second-order thinking around the obvious task.
If “remote” means “low accountability” to you, the autonomy here will feel uncomfortable. We measure outcomes, and the outcomes are real.
If you’re looking for a place where AI replaces your coworkers, we’re the wrong company. We build to free our team from admin so they can do the parts of the work that actually require them.
From the team
I came in through onboarding, ops, and sales inside trades businesses. Now I run people ops at TGL. Most of the work is the part nobody catalogs: making sure the team has what they need before they have to ask, and that the partnership stuff actually follows through after the handshake.
05Open Roles
We hire when the next role is real, not before. If you’d be a fit for the standard above, send your resume to careers@thegraphitelab.com. We read every one, and we keep good ones on file for the next opening.
A note from the founder
The first job I had in this industry came after I sent over 200 handwritten letters to trades businesses. I’d written a script against Google My Business to pull the addresses. I was 22, broke, and the only thing I’d figured out was that the people running these companies were better than the software being sold to them. That’s still mostly the only thing I’ve figured out. The team here is full of people who got to that realization from a different direction.
