Anniversary Buddy

Every morning, Anniversary Buddy checks whether any employee is reaching a work anniversary today. When one is, the HR Generalist and the employee's manager get a notification with the employee's tenure already calculated, so they can recognize the milestone in person. If the company has set up an anniversary announcement, an email goes out to the team automatically. Milestones get celebrated on time without anyone having to track them.

The promise

Work anniversaries get recognized on time without the HR Generalist keeping a separate tracker. The notification arrives before the day starts, the tenure is already calculated, and the announcement handles itself.

How it works

The path from input to value.

  1. 01

The daily scan checks for anniversaries

Every morning, the platform scans the employee records for a work anniversary matching the current date. This daily scan runs whether or not anyone has an anniversary. No manual tracking or spreadsheet required.

  2. 02

A recognition is surfaced and notified

When an anniversary is reached, the employee's tenure is calculated and the recognition is surfaced: the employee's manager and the HR Generalist receive a notification with the employee's name and years of service through the configured channel, early enough to recognize the milestone before the day moves on.

  3. 03

A company announcement goes out if configured

If the company has enabled anniversary announcements, a personalized email goes out to the configured recipient list automatically, with the employee's name, tenure, and any configured milestone messaging.

The day before. The day after.

Same moments. Lived differently.

  • 8:00 AM

    Before

The HR Generalist opens the spreadsheet to check for anniversaries this week. Two employees hit milestones today. Tenure is calculated by hand.

    After

The notification arrives before the office opens. The HR Generalist and the employee's manager both know the tenure and the milestone before the employee walks in.

  • 9:30 AM

    Before

They draft an anniversary email to the team, double-check the hire-date math, and send it mid-morning.

    After

The anniversary announcement goes out to the team automatically. Tenure already calculated, message already personalized.

  • 11:00 AM

    Before

The manager finds out about the five-year anniversary from another employee. The recognition conversation happens too late in the day to feel intentional.

    After

The manager acknowledges the milestone when the employee arrives. Five years recognized the right way, at the right moment.

  • 4:00 PM

    Before

One anniversary was missed because the hire date was entered inconsistently in the system. The employee noticed.

    After

Every anniversary on the calendar was recognized on time. No spreadsheet, no mental overhead, nothing missed.

What it doesn’t do

The edges we drew on purpose.

A product that tries to do everything ends up doing nothing well. Here’s what we left out, and why we don’t feel bad about it.

  • ×Does not manage anniversary gifts, bonuses, or compensation reviews triggered by tenure milestones.
  • ×Does not send announcements to employees who have opted out of company-wide recognition.
  • ×Does not track anniversaries for contractors or non-employee records.
  • ×Does not notify external contacts or customers.
